Less than two years old, Baur's Restaurant and Listening Lounge turned the lights off for good, Westword reported. Located at 1512 Curtis Street, Baur's was the brainchild of chef Dory Ford, whose two restaurants and long-standing catering company are located in Monterey, California. In Denver, his business was part eatery, part music venue, and part catering/commissary space.
Only a sign on the door announced the closure in few words. Social media sites have not been updated in at least a couple of weeks, the website and phone number are still active with no indication of the shutter, but Open Table ceased accepting reservations.
While full of character, dotted with history in the style of old-school French bistros on the East Coast, the space has not been a lucky one for restaurants. Prior to Baur's, Le Grand Bistro, a French eatery from Robert Thompson, had a three year run there. Baur's Ristorante, an Italian restaurant, called the address home before.
