Otra Vez Cantina, a new Mexican concept in Downtown Denver, is opening its doors to the public today. Located at 610 16th St. on the 16th Street Mall, the new attraction, brainchild of the Tavern Hospitality Group, calls itself a high-energy Mexican bar and restaurant. The space, dotted with Mexican-inspired art and red accents, includes a street-side patio, a lounge, and a private banquet area, plus a Mezcal Lounge with a mezcal bar on the second level overlooking the main floor.
South American influences seep through the creative Mexican fare on the opening menu. Specialties include chicharrones, chicken tinga sopes, and pork belly al pastor tacos. Over 200 tequilas and mezcals plus several handcrafted cocktails complement the food.
"There are a lot of Mexican restaurants around, but we wanted to create something different, Tavern Hospitality Group owner Frank Schultz said. "We brought in a designer from Austin, because of the unique vibe of the bar scene there. Our goal was to create a fun energetic atmosphere that would draw people in, he added."
Schultz and his group also own and operate seven unique neighborhood Taverns, plus two stadium Taverns, as well as Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, Chopper's Sports Grill, Cowboy Lounge and The Soiled Dove Underground.
