The family-run business that used to be called Udi’s has always kept a nimble approach to its businesses and the latest change is further proof. In a move that consolidates its brands, two outposts of Silvi’s, one that was initially Udi’s in Arvada and the other located at City Set in Glendale, are calling it quits. [An earlier version of this article indicated that the two locations of Silvi's were transitioning to Etai's outposts.] Arvada shuttered at the end of March and Glendale will remain operational through April. The future of the company is in building up the Etai’s Bakery Café brand along with the bakery side of the company, named Izzio.
Two new Etai’s Bakery Café locations are coming to Greenwood Village late May.
Below is a statement that the company passed along:
We would like to announce the closing of Silvi’s Arvada and Silvi’s Glendale. The Silvi’s in Olde Town Arvada served its last meal on Saturday, March 25th. The Silvi’s in the City Set development in Glendale will stay open serving all guests until the end of April. The main reason for the closure is our desire to focus on the 7 Denver Etai’s Bakery Café locations as well as Izzio Bakery.
We would also like to announce that we are planning to open two new Etai’s Bakery Café locations in Greenwood Village late May 2017. Izzio Bakery is in the midst of a national expansion via great retail partners like Sprouts, Kroger and Whole Foods.
We first opened Silvi’s in Olde Town in 2009 with the help of developer Dick Landon and the Arvada Urban Renewal Authority. At that time the restaurant was called Udi’s. We had to change the name in 2014 after we sold the Udi’s brand name to Boulder Brands as part of their acquisition of our Gluten Free and Granola bakeries. Silvi’s Restaurant played a key role in the rejuvenation of Arvada’s Olde Town, which has become a vibrant and prosperous neighborhood with many new eating and drinking destinations like Steubens and Tap and Dough. We are very grateful to our guests and to the city of Arvada for helping us have a great 8 years.
Silvi’s Glendale opened in 2013 and was exceptionally busy from day one especially with daytime lunch crowds. The decision to close Silvis Glendale was difficult especially considering how many people we feed daily. However, the timing was right and it is now time for our family to move on.
We would like to say that it has been both an honor and a privilege to serve and feed our guests for these past 8 years. We sincerely hope that the people that loved Silvis will come visit our City Set Glendale restaurant in April while we remain open so we can say thank you one last time.
Sincerely,
Udi Bar-on, Robin Bar-on and Etai Bar-on
