Chefs Alex Seidel and Matt Vawter of Mercantile Dining & Provision and Fruition, and Keegan Gerhard and Lisa Bailey of D Bar announced yesterday the launch of Füdmill, a wholesale artisan pastry company. Füdmill signed an exclusive agreement with Whole Foods Market to bring 12 varieties of fresh pastries, including chocolate croissants, seasonal muffins and Danishes, scones, morning buns and pain aux raisins to Denver locations including Cherry Creek, Washington Park, Colorado Boulevard and Tamarac, starting tomorrow, Wednesday April 19.

The chefs have set up a working bakery in Denver’s up and coming Northeast Corridor near Swansea, where community based food operatives like the Grow Haus, Denver Urban Gardens and more have invested. Citywide plans to activate this zone as part of a larger conscious space for tourism, agriculture, mass transit and business development herald exciting things to come for Denverites.

In other bread and pastry news, City Bakery expanded its wholesale operations with a new location in Mesa, Arizona. Owner Michael Bortz launched the new business located at 2628 W. Birchwood Circle on Monday, April 17.
