The team from one year old The Way Back is expanding with Wayward, a vegetable-forward restaurant that will occupy the space that formerly housed Zengo. A fourteen year old staple of Commons Park, Zengo shuttered last week to the dismay of longtime fans of the chef Richard Sandoval. Chad Michael George, Kade Gianinetti and Jared Schwartz, partners in The Way Back and American Grind, will launch the new at 1610 Little Raven Street sometime in the fall.
The upcoming restaurant will bring a responsibly sourced, vegetable-focused menu and a whiskey-focused bar program. The main dining room and outdoor patio will be open for dinner nightly and weekend brunch.
The La Guerra space (formerly La Biblioteca and Al Lado prior to that) will operate as a dine-in and grab & go breakfast and lunch spot and coffee shop. A search for an executive chef is currently underway as is a remodel to the space.
