Element Kitchen & Cocktail wants to give local sports fans an extra reason to go out to eat and drink when it opens at 1134 Broadway Avenue this July: sneakers. The SneekEazy, a part of the upcoming business, will showcase a collection of the “rarest and most coveted sneakers, especially during the evening hours.”
Pricey sneakers aside, the attraction is an upscale sports bar and restaurant that features 12 TVs, a projector screen, space for 175 cheering Broncos faithful, and a rooftop patio. Bonus: There is an intriguing connection with John Tesar, the man who D Magazine once called “the most hated chef in Dallas.”
Tesar designed all back-of-house operations and the menu, which promises a healthier take on traditional bar grub and a focus on local and seasonal ingredients.
Although he continues to make headlines for his off-the-plate behavior, Tesar is now better known as a four-time James Beard nominee and two-time Top Chef contestant. He’s also focused his culinary energy on Knife, the steakhouse he opened in Dallas to great critical acclaim in 2014.
So when a Tesar-created menu featuring pork butcher boards, burgers and, yes, steak comes to Denver, there’s plenty of reason to take note.
