Closing Time for Casual Commons Park Pub, McLoughlin’s

Another Riverfront Park restaurant bites the dust

Following in the somber footsteps of Zengo, La Guerra and Little Raven Bistro, another Riverfront Park establishment – McLoughlin’s Restaurant & Bar – closed its doors June 20. Located just west of the Millennium Bridge, the friendly, no-fuss neighborhood pub with American fare and double daily happy hours has called it quits after 12 loyal years on the edge of the Lower Highlands. The announcement appeared on the McLoughlin’s website and the shut down of all related social media accounts.

The management team’s sister restaurants – The Irish Snug, Slattery’s Irish Pub and Maggie Smith’s Irish Pub – will continue to operate.

But it isn’t all bad news. While the McLoughlin’s vacancy goes unfilled for the time being, the area closures bring new beginnings. The team from The Way Back is expanding into the Commons Park area with Wayward, a vegetable-focused restaurant that will move into the former Zengo space. Meanwhile, the La Guerra space will transform into a dine-in, grab-and-go breakfast and lunch destination.
