An automobile crashed into the back patio of downtown restaurant Ophelia’s Electric Soapbox the evening of Sunday, June 25th.
According to the official police statement, the collision at 1215 20th Street involving 29-year-old driver Shelia Rodriguez, occurred at roughly 10:40 p.m. The driver was arrested for investigation of driving under the influence (DUI) – second alcohol-related offense, reckless driving, second-degree assault and no insurance. According to Doug Schepman with the media relations unit of the Denver Police Department, the Denver District Attorney’s Office will make the final determination on the charges.
No parties were injured as the restaurant and patio were closed and empty.
Ophelia’s – chef-owner Justin Cucci’s Ballpark area dinner club serving up decadent plates and pours with a side of live entertainment – will undergo repairs to the outside rear of the space following the accident, though the estimated duration of the patch-up and reopening is undetermined.
