Chicago Chicken Joint Pops Up at The Source

The Nashville hot chicken trend is going strong.

The Budlong

Chicago chef Jared Leonard is bringing The Budlong Hot Chicken to Denver for a limited time this weekend. The pop up version of the Budlong is set to open in RiNo Yacht Club (3350 Brighton Boulevard) this Saturday, July 22, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., or until the hot chicken supply runs dry.

Leonard and the Budlong team will be serving up hot chicken sandwiches and tenders, as well as Budlong’s buttermilk biscuits. At the Budlong’s Chicago locations, a standard sandwich goes for $11 and a three-piece order of tenders would run you $9.

Since opening the first Budlong in 2016, Leonard has expanded the restaurant to three locations across the Windy City. It raises the question: Is this Denver pop up a prelude to a Mile High Budlong? “It's definitely a possibility,” says Dylan Lipe, director of culinary operations. “We are excited about seeing what the area may offer.”

If the Budlong team does decide to expand to Denver, they’ll have a plethora of fried chicken options to contend with, including these 14 local favorites.
