Billy Sims BBQ Opens First Denver Location in Edgewater

Billy Sims has ventured from the football field to the culinary playing field since his college days, and is bringing his barbecue franchise to debut in Denver at 2001 Sheridan Boulevard in the Lake Marketplace shopping center July 13. For college football fans, the name Billy Sims sparks memories of University of Oklahoma games and the glory of the Heisman Trophy. Along with partner Jeff Jackson, Sims founded the Billy Sims BBQ brand in 2009.

The co-founders combined their Texan and Kansas City styles to build a lengthy menu loaded with nine different meats – each smoked daily over pecan wood. Other offerings include fresh takes on classic side dishes like a mustard-based potato salad and green beans with bacon. All Billy Sims locations showcase the smoker in the front of the restaurant to demonstrate the processes and serve guests freshly smoked meals.

The first Billy Sims franchise to land in Colorado opened in Colorado Springs this spring. The expansive Edgewater space is 1,800 square feet and can seat 55 people. The location will offer catering and carry-out services, as well.

Under the guidance of franchise partners Cody and Sharla Wright, this Billy Sims location will offer a Colorado-inspired atmosphere and an assortment of local craft beers.

Billy Sims will be in attendance to meet fans and sign autographs at the restaurant Friday, July 14 and Saturday, July 15.
