Colorado chefs Daniel Asher of River & Woods and Tom Coohill of Coohills will be cooking at the 10th annual Sabor Barranquilla gastronomic festival in Barranquilla, Colombia at the end of this week. The event focuses on the foods of the Caribbean, with cooking demonstrations and contests, forums exploring biodiversity, sustainability, culinary techniques and advances, and a variety of dishes cooked by chefs from around the world.

Rush Bowls, a Boulder, Colorado-based fast-casual restaurant spot focused meals-in-a-bowl made with fruit, blended with protein, vitamins and other nutritious ingredients, has inked six franchise development agreements in major US markets. This leads to a combined 19 franchisee-owned Rush Bowls locations to markets in Arizona, California, Colorado, Missouri, Oregon and Tennessee over the next several years. The first of these locations opened in Nashville, Tennessee last month. After Boulder and Denver, a lease has recently been secured for a third company store in Colorado, set in the fast-growing Gunbarrel at 5400 Spine Road.

New Belgium Brewing is unveiling its latest Voodoo Ranger Special Release. Brewed with Saigon cinnamon and habanero peppers, Atomic Pumpkin Ale is a brew that starts out sweet and finishes spicy with a little bitterness in between. Highlights include the Nugget hops combined with Pale Mena, Pale Rahr, Caramel and Munich malts which bring together a fall-like spice and warmth. The beer is available in 12oz. bottles and on draft now through October.

Hickory & Ash added brunch service Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Broomfield spot is an American meatery from Kevin Taylor Restaurant Group, which opened last month with chef Ryan Taylor at its helm. Highlights on the brunch menu include H&A Scones, made with white chocolate bacon and rosemary black currant and chicken & waffle Benedict, featuring celery, apple, maple and red hot hollandaise.
