A favorite of road trippers headed west through Idaho Springs, the coincidentally named Smokin Yard's BBQ is promising a fall debut for its corner location at The Yard on Santa Fe. Filling 4,000 square feet at the intersection of Santa Fe Drive and West First Avenue, the restaurant will offer a small patio and a view of the gleaming horse sculpture out front.
Denver Distilling and the second location for the southeast's Copper Door Coffee, still proudly declaring itself “Denver's only 100% female owned coffee roaster," also head to the area with fellow tenants Board Game Republic and the brewery facility for Renegade Brewing Co.
Owned and operated by the father and sons team of Alan, Ian Scott and Andrew Yard since 2008, Smokin Yard's BBQ serves under the motto of "smokin is more than just a hobby," at a casual location right on Colorado Boulevard.
Expected for Denver, an indoor smoker and its three signature sauces "Cow Tippin Sweet, Spicy Chipotle and Swine Bitin' Bold." Also on the original menu, smoked sandwiches featuring Carolina pulled pork, chopped beef brisket and beef burnt ends, plus baby back pork ribs that can be prepared St. Louis style. Alongside smoked chicken and meats available by the pound, entrees include a catfish po'boy, chicken fried steak and sides such as collard greens, fried okra and chipotle mashed sweet potatoes.
