Some very good news for fans of LoHi’s Little Man Ice Cream creations and admirers of vintage-style roadside Americana; The Constellation ice cream shop veers back on track at Stapleton’s Eastbridge Town Center, paying homage to the airport and the Pan Am-era of travel. The bold project, announced almost a year ago and destined to become the visual figurehead for the retail hub, gets back on a new schedule, currently hiring and pushing for an official mid-November debut.
Designed by Architect Michael Koch, local paper The Front Porch followed the careful planning meetings that raised necessary concerns about fire truck access under the 64-foot long, 20-foot high, replica right wing and fuselage of a nostalgic Lockheed Constellation airplane. Early plans also called for a spiral staircase to lead guests into the hollowed out fuselage vantage point.
Customers will be able to sit under the shade of the wing or sample the wildly popular Little Man flavors inside the 354-square-foot shop. Announcements last year called for hot drinks and soups to beat the chill during the winter.
The Constellation will join the robust dining scene now featuring Cattivella, Concourse Restaurant Moderne, the breakfast joint Hashtag, Los Chingones and American eatery Next Door.
Next for the sweet purveyors, a combination factory, tasting room, and store, with the capacity to create 10 times their current production ability. The Little Man Microbatch Creamery at the corner of Colfax and Tennyson targets a mid-2018 debut.
