Catch some “Aloha Spirit” in just a few days, as the Sloan’s Lakefront Market in Edgewater turns into a Ninth Island oasis at the Ohana Grille food truck’s first bricks-and-mortar home.
Aiming for an announced Oct. 1 opening, the Ohana Grille will take over the 2,300-square-foot Suite E at 2045 Sheridan Blvd., the former home of Thailicious, Creative Thai Eatery.
After two years on the road owner Rich Braunthal will temporarily close his food truck operation also on Oct. 1 and return in spring 2018. The current plans is for the casual restaurant to offer a quick serve lunch and a full service dinner menu all designed with Pacific Rim fusion flair.
On the truck’s original menu, Ohana Denver 808 Plates including the inevitable “Teri” chicken or beef, seared ahi, chicken katsu and a mahi mahi sandwich. Rice plates include the loco moco, created with a hamburger patty, gravy and fried egg, plus streets tacos an stir fried yakisoba noodles with shiitake mushrooms.
