Two local institutions, one old, one new, join forces and debut their combined venture today, with their eye on another 40 years of service.

Rosenberg’s Bagels & Delicatessen merges into The Bagel Store location at 942 S. Monaco Pkwy. and together created a new joint company, Rosenberg’s Kosher.

The partnership creates the self-described largest kosher purveyor in Colorado with the newly refurbished store upgrading the baked goods menu choices with a wider selection of traditional deli favorites, such as house-cured and smoked fish, salads and spreads. Also on the menu, deli meats, matzo ball soup and potato latkes, plus macarons, rye and whole wheat breads, cakes, hamentashen, mandel bread, and other cookies.

The Bagel Shop, open since 1976, remodeled during the temporary closure and now includes outdoor seating, a new dairy room and a kosher smokehouse.

The combination brand will plans to offer more wholesale and catering, producing an estimated million bagels a year and distributing them locally to the Hyatt Regency, Rose Hospital, the Denver Convention Center and Whole Foods Market.
