Cold Crush Corner to Transform Into BarCode

BarCode, a bar by the owner of Chuey Fu’s, will start slinging drinks as early as next week in the former Cold Crush location at 2700 Larimer Street.

It’s been less than two months since Chuey Fu’s third location came online in the Riverfront Park neighborhood, but owner Joe Knoblich couldn’t pass up the prime real estate and opportunity to get it on the action in RiNo. He has signed a five-year lease and completed construction on this latest project, which he had tinkered on for awhile.

“Who doesn’t want to be in RiNo?” Knoblich says.

Cold Crush last year was evicted from the corner Larimer Street space following a public dispute with the building’s landlord. But the Cold Crush owners have since partnered with Curtis Club to transform that bar at 2100 Curtis Street into Rock Steady, a new nightclub.

Post-construction and revamp, the new BarCode has a silver ceiling from which dangles a glowing collection of crimson lanterns. Patchy red brick and bare white walls surround a wrap-around wooden bar with 20 red metal bar chairs. A handful of TV screens are mounted to the walls and will display a variety of sporting events which can be viewed from two lipstick-red leather couches or four high-top wooden tables.

The bar will serve a variety of cocktails spotlighting local spirits and Colorado-brewed beers. Without a hood in the kitchen, Knoblich is serving sandwiches, pizzas, ramen, and Mexican fare, prepared out of the Chuey Fu’s truck.
