A Taste of Wine Country Comes to Dairy Block

The action is unstoppable at the LoDo collective, as Blanchard Family Wines presents a new urban winery

UNUM collaborative

Brother-owned Blanchard Family Wines and its artisanal selection of boutique varietals, will be the latest addition to the Dairy Block market, with a winery and tasting room anticipated to open this December.

Expanding on their collective decade of California wine-country success, Blanchard – a first-generation wine venture – will introduce its low-production, limited products in an intimate setting, following James Blanchard’s relocation from Fort Collins to Denver. Meanwhile, Mark Blanchard will remain in Sonoma.

The Dairy Block winery and tasting room is presently under construction, building out two unique, but united spaces with a comfy lounge and barrel room featuring high-top tasting tables. The modern, sophisticated space – designed by UNUM collaborative, LVTD Design, and Symmetry – will seat 52. Moody, yet approachable, a decorative wooden ceiling fixture will loop down the side of the space and morph into a functional wine rack.

The winemaker-operated Blanchard Family Wines will share eight wines with Dairy Block diners and drinkers to start, including four from the Russian River Valley and two from Alexander Valley. The tasting room menu will spotlight flights, wine by the glass, as well as bottles and growlers to take home.

Colorado and California cheeses and Il Porcellino and Elevation Meats will balance the boozy side of the menu, along with small bites and desserts, such as macarons from Ruby Jean Patisserie and chocolates from The Chocolate Therapist.
