Molecular dessert hiatus
The Inventing Room Dessert Shop this week announced on Facebook that it is closed for the winter season and will re-open in the summer of 2019. Chef Ian Kleinman said the closure was due to a difficult year for the business. In the interim, he will host his often sold-out Gobblefunk dinners and other pop-ups including a doughnut shop. Catering by the Inventing Room will continue as usual, so fans can still invite the brand to their events and parties. Dates and details for the pop-up events will be announced on social media, the company’s website, and in a newsletter.
Seafood restaurant expansion
Ocean Prime has opened a second location (making Denver the only city in the country to have more than one) in Greenwood Village at 8000 East Belleview Avenue. The popular American restaurant serves lunch and dinner, offering seafood, prime cut steaks, scratch sides, cocktails, and a sizable wine list. The new space features four private dining rooms and seats over 400 diners in the restaurant, patio, and bar areas.
Two-brewery collaboration
The Cultural Center has opened near 64th and Federal in North Denver, 303 reports. The collaboration brewery project between Amalgam Brewing and Westbound & Down Brewing shares one head brewer who uses different recipes for each brand, giving guests the opportunity to try two beers of the same style — say, saison — side by side. Both breweries will feature their own three beers but will also collaborate on a beer called the Amalgam and Westbound & Down Cultural Collection.
