Barbecue and ice cream
Championship-winning GQue BBQ, based in Westminster, has expanded to Lone Tree this week. The new Park Meadows location is attached to the brand’s first Ice Cream Farm and sells ribs, brisket, and pulled pork alongside homemade frozen treats. Ice cream flavors include banana pudding, salted maple pecan, and French toast. GQue owner and St. Louis native Jason Ganahl started his professional barbecue career as a competition judge before competing in regional championships and winning numerous awards.
Whiskey, bourbon, and vodka
52eighty Distilling opens in Littleton this weekend, bringing its Hearthstone American rye & Irish whiskey, Cackler’s bourbon, and Winter Wheat vodka to a tasting room at 10488 West Centennial Road. Attendees at the grand opening — 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday — will be able to sample these spirits made by brothers Erick and Drew Demgen, who are also planning to release a barrel-aged whiskey, gin, and Palisade peach vodka in coming months, as well as open an outdoor patio at the new 2,900-square-foot space.
Boulder fast-casual
Boulder chef Matthew Jansen of Mateo restaurant is debuting his first fast-casual Raglin Market on Friday at 5378 Gunbarrel Center Court. He’s planning a second location to open later this year in Five Points. At the 40-seat Boulder location, diners will order sandwiches, soups, and salads at the counter. Menu items like Niçoise salad and a garlic shrimp sandwich are based off of Mateo’s Provençal cuisine. A daily “market plate” will also combine a choice of meat and two side dishes for $13. Raglin-label wines are forthcoming from Italian winemaker Giorgio Rivetti of La Spinetta.
