On this arbitrary day of romance, Eater decided to drop in on couples in the Denver restaurant industry to see how they show their love, from inside their own restaurants, during their mornings off together, and on weeknights at home cooking with family. Not glamorized, but not hardened either, here are three examples of couples making it work in an exhausting business. This is the last of the three-part installment:
Denver would be hard-pressed to find two more influential chefs and restaurant owners than Jennifer Jasinski and Max MacKissock. Jasinski is behind Rioja, Euclid Hall, Bistro Vendome, Stoic & Genuine, and Ultreia. MacKissock helms Señor Bear, Bar Dough, the kitchens of the Tap & Burger concepts, and soon-to-open Morin. When they’re not working five nights a week behind the scenes in their respective restaurants, MacKissock and Jasinski are at home together in Sunnyside, where they have three dogs, one of them an 11-week-old puppy.
Eater photographer Rachel Greiman caught up with them on a Saturday morning, making eggs but mostly keeping Chester out of them. Warning: the following photos contain adorable images of dogs.
