This New Ice Cream Sandwich Spot Combines Everyone’s Guilty Pleasures

Cream will offer a variety of combinations, including Fruity Pebbles, vegan mint chip, and waffles

A new-to-Colorado ice cream sandwich franchise opens Saturday in Belmar, and it’s a full-on Instagram fest of rainbow sprinkles, Fruity Pebbles, and chocolate chip cookie dough. That is one of the actual ice cream sandwich combinations at Cream, which offers five bases, 20-some ice cream flavors, and more than a dozen toppings.

Based in California, Cream specializes in photo-worthy cookies, scoops, and candies. Five years on, it has brought back the cronut (disguised here as a do’sant), and it’s added for good measure brownies, cookies, and waffles as potential ice cream bookends. Cream rolls the scoops in toppings such as marshmallows, Nutella, and glitter sprinkles. (In the year 2018, food glitter is now a thing to read up about.) And the shop offers mini versions of its sandwiches for all the little sugar fiends out there. Just make sure they charge their iPhones before piling into those carseats. No Instagram photo filters will be necessary.

Eater sent photographer Lucy Beaugard to get that ‘gram ahead of this weekend’s grand opening. If the photo opps weren’t enough, Cream is giving away free sandwiches from noon to 7 p.m. Saturday. Normal business hours will be 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. The business is located at 7357 West Alaska Drive in Lakewood.
