Denver Beer Co. on Platte Street is closing its next-door barrel room at the end of the month to reopen this spring as Cerveceria Colorado. The new brewery spinoff, located at 1635 Platte Street, will focus on Mexican beers that highlight traditional ingredients and are made in collaboration with craft breweries across the border. Meanwhile, Denver Beer Co. will continue to operate unchanged at 1695 Platte Street, in Olde Town Arvada, and at the Canworks facility currently under construction in Sunnyside.

“Cerveceria Colorado is our way of creating a bridge, as opposed to a wall, in our community,” said Denver Beer Co. co-founder Patrick Crawford.

At Cerveceria Colorado, head brewer Jason Buehler has in the works Mexican-inspired beers brewed with cinnamon, chile peppers, nopal, chocolate, mole, lime, and agave. He’ll also work with Mexican craft breweries such as Cerveceria de Colima, La Bru, and Cerveceria Escollo on collaboration releases. The new brewery is one of three Latino concepts that will soon hit the Denver market. Denverite reports that both Raices Brewing and Dos Luces Brewery are moving towards their respective openings.
