TACO AND MARGARITA NEWS: Los Chingones on Larimer Street is getting a new neighbor with the opening of Los Lounge on March 27. The bar, also run by Troy Guard’s Tag Restaurant Group, will emerge in the former Sugarmill space at 2461 Larimer Street. Unlike the pastry shop before it, Los Lounge will be an extension of its taco-peddling neighbor, and it will offer a full Chingones food menu as well as late-night snacks in a lounge bar setting. Patio openings and happy hour announcements are forthcoming.
SPRING BREAK POP-UP NEWS: Sex on the Beach and Long Island Iced Tea make a comeback next Thursday, March 22, with the opening of Wayward’s latest pop-up bar in Riverfront Park. From the team that gifted Denver a Christmas pop-up bar and also an Olympics pop-up bar comes this Spring Break throwback straight out of the ‘90s. Think buckets of beer or rosé as well as Jell-O shots, all set in a beach-themed bar with floaties and sand boxes. Just like spring break, it could either go sour or swimmingly.
NEW LUNCH SPOT NEWS: River and Woods in Boulder just launched its lunch service. The Colorado comfort food restaurant helmed by chef Daniel Asher is now serving midday sandwiches, soups, salads, and plates. On the menu, find a quinoa and fruit farmer’s market salad, roasted green chile poutine, and a chicken parmesan croissantwich. Hours are 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.
EVEN MORE SHAKE SHACK NEWS: Shake Shack is officially taking over Denver. The first location of three now in the works opens Wednesday, March 21, at 2995 Larimer Street, the chain announced Monday. Shake Shack’s Colorado-only menu items will include a Green Chile CheddarShack, a cheeseburger with shredded white cheddar, green chiles, and scallions; and Pie Oh My concretes with seasonal Long I Pies mixed into vanilla custard. Local beers and wine also will be available to pair with those french fries.
