A new restaurant by the owners of one of Denver’s Italian fine dining staples will open in the former home of Squeaky Bean, which closed last June in LoDo. Chow Morso Osteria is coming to 1500 Wynkoop Street by summer, and it will be a casual offshoot of the 26-year-old Barolo Grill in Cherry Creek North.
Fans of the brand will recognize it from the Avanti food stall by the same name. Chow Morso opened in LoHi’s restaurant incubator in late 2016. After proving the menu there for more than a year, the restaurant is graduating to its own brick-and-mortar space near Union Station. Lunch and dinner and a full bar menu featuring more affordable Italian wines will be offered. Owner Ryan Fletter describes the new restaurant as a “full-service experience between fine dining and fast-casual.” Piadinas are planned for lunch, and plates such as linguini and clams and bolognese are on the dinner menu.
At Avanti, Chow Morso sells pasta dishes for $12-$14, along with salads and appetizers, such as polenta bites and fried calamari. The LoHi Chow Morso will continue to operate through October.
