After two years inside Avanti F&B in LoHi, The Regional is graduating to a brick-and-mortar location in Fort Collins. Chef Kevin Grossi’s American comfort food concept, with its fried chicken sandwiches, casseroles, and collard greens, will open at 130 South Mason Street in the fall. The stall’s last day at Avanti will be July 28.
At the new restaurant, Grossi plans to offer individual portions and shareable sizes of his regional dishes, with beer, wine, and cocktails to accompany them. “We’ve always worked with as many local farms as possible, but the new menu will allow us to commit to that 100 percent,” he said in a press release. “The Regional has always been about adding a local element to whatever food you consider ‘hometown’ cooking. That will never change. If anything, we’re just moving closer to where so much of it is already growing in our state.”
Prior to opening The Regional in Denver, Grossi worked with Big Red F restaurants, including for a few years at Jax Fish House in Fort Collins. His new Mason Street restaurant space is located in Old Town Fort Collins; it was previously home to a beer bar, Crafted, that lasted less than six months there. Replacing The Regional at Avanti this summer is Bistro Georgette, a French concept by three Mizuna alumni. More recent and forthcoming graduates of Avanti include Bamboo Sushi, American Grind, and Kaya Kitchen.
