Newcomer Zig Zag Smokin’ Burger now has a firm opening date in Greenwood Village promising diners a sleek diner look with a touch of funky.
The restaurant takes over the shuttered Gunther Toody’s Diner at 9220 E. Arapahoe Road, The substantial 6,667-square-foot space will be operated by the family-owned Surf’s Up Hospitality, which also operated Gunther Toody’s. Diners can indulge in contemporary American grub and a craft booze bar beginning Aug. 28 daily from 11 a.m. to midnight and until 1 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
The previewed menu features Brussels sprouts, chopped chicken liver, and crispy fries topped with Gruyere Mornay sauce and a fried egg among the appetizers along with charred shishito peppers and fried pig joints, plus a Triple Pig sandwich with smoked pulled pork, ham, and bacon and a five cheese sandwich. Of course, a series of burgers including a vegetarian version with Portobello and risotto make the menu, as do entrees including pan-seared Cajun shrimp and fish, duck hash, pork shoulder adobo, and Asian crispy sticky chicken.
