A stretch of Tejon Street between 36th and 37th avenues gets new life this weekend as Mythology Distillery opens on the ground floor of the Barrel Lofts complex. Located just across the street from Lechuga’s Italian, the new bar and craft distiller will specialize in spirits and cocktails, but it will also offer beer, wine, and food, with an emphasis on international street fare.
For the first weekend, however, drinkers will have to make do with well spirits in their drinks, alongside empanadas, burritos, and beers from Station 26 Brewing. Soon after, Mythology’s vodka will debut, as well as a blended whiskey, rum, and a few gin varieties.
Behind Mythology are three Denver friends and a former High West distiller. The group hopes to create a fun neighborhood hangout and drinking destination inside their bar decorated with souvenirs from international travels. A community table was fashioned out of a door from India, the bar is lined with Moroccan tile, and a back corner booth is surrounded by books, maps, and masks from various origins.

Behind the bar is a view of the 250-gallon copper Vendome still, which the partners hope will eventually supply area restaurants and bars with their spirits. They also are working on a larger production facility for further distribution.
Status: Mythology Distillery starts its soft opening on Saturday, August 25, from 11 a.m. to midnight at 3622 Tejon Street. The bar will open on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. For more information and details about releases, tours, and offerings, check out the website.
