It’s starting to feel like fall along the Front Range — and there’s plenty of colorful and crafty events for Denverites to explore this October. From an immersive cannabis experience sponsored by Meow Wolf to traditional cider celebrations in Lakewood, October is, so far, shaping up to be more kooky than spooky this year. Check out these 13 events to hit this month.
Lakewood Cider Days
When: October 6, from 10 a.m., through October 7 at 5 p.m.
Where: Lakewood Heritage Center
What: Locals can celebrate Lakewood’s agricultural heritage while sampling harvest-time treats, enjoying live music, and exploring family-friendly activities. Events include apple pressing, apple cider by the glass or gallon, Apple Annie’s Baking Challenge, an ax throwing tournament, pie eating contest, and more.

Mile High Grilled Cheese and Beer Fest
When: Saturday, October 6, 2018 from 1:30 p.m. – 9 p.m.
Where: Denver Rock Drill
What: Grilled cheese lovers can indulge in loaded grilled cheese bites from local chefs and restaurants alongside an array of craft beer options at the popular event. Guests can upgrade to the VIP package for early admission and an open bar.

Brews Bazaar Craft Market
When: October 6 from 12 to 6 p.m.
Where: Farm House Restaurant at Breckenridge Brewery
What: The Farm at Breckenridge Brewery hosts its third crafts and beer bazaar this October. Attendees can expect cold beer, fresh bites, live music, and a medley of homemade crafts and local art.

Upslope’s 4th Annual Backcountry Tap Room
When: October 6, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Where: Grand Park Development, Fraser
What: Embark on the annual tap room hike to earn backcountry beer at the top of Grand Park. All 21+ attendees will receive four drink tickets and can samples the new Spruce Tip IPA, as well as Upslope’s year-round favorites.

Departure Peking Duck Pop Up Dinner
When: October 7 from 6 to 10 p.m.
Where: Departure Restaurant
What: Snag a sneak “pek” to the Cherry Creek restaurant’s annual Peking Duck holiday dinner with a one-night-only pop-up dinner. Tickets, which feed two to four people, includes one crispy duck, along with all of the fixings: Mandarin pancakes, duck fried rice, and duck soup.

Science on Tap
When: October 11 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Where: Denver Museum of Nature & Science
What: Explore the science behind beer with Dr. Nicole Garneau, curator of health sciences, and enjoy discounts from local food tucks.
Additional Information: The event’s proceeds goes towards a mobile museum. Tickets start at $40.
Choctober Fest Colorado
When: October 13, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Where: Arapahoe County Fairgrounds
What: The 5th annual event highlights all things chocolate and ups the ante this year with a new cake showdown. Past events at Choctoberfest include chocolate pairings with beer and cider — and chocotinis remain as prominent (and indulgent) as ever.

Bloody Mary Festival
When: October 13 from 10:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Where: EXDO Event Center
What: The largest celebration of the Bloody Mary comes back to Denver this October. Local bars compete for the honor of best bloody and the People’s Choice award alongside local good vendors and live music.

Far Out Factory

What: O.penVAPE and Meow Wolf collaborated to create Far Out Factory, a cannabis and immersive art festival that takes over an old factory. Guests can explore interactive exhibitions sponsored by the Santa Fe-based museum and group while delving into food truck treats, sipping on local beers, and enjoying live performances.

Dry Dock’s Lucky 13 Anniversary Party
When: October 13, 2018 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Where: Dry Dock Brewing Company - North Dock
What: The beloved brewery celebrates 13 years with one hell of a party. Events include: onsite flash tattoos for $31, food trucks, live music, lawn games, limited beer releases and a cellar sale.

End of the World Pub Crawl
When: October 20 from 1 to 5 p.m.
Where: The Gin Mill
What: The downtown zombie crawl hits local LoDo bars like The Retro Room, Larimer Beer Hall, and Scruffy Murphy’s. The challenge: crawl to all participating bars while avoiding the Zombies trying to take your life force (your flags) for a change to win prizes.

Women’s-Only Craft Brewery Tour
When: October 20 from 12 to 5:30 p.m.
Where: Tour starts at Factotum Brewhouse
What: Stop by four woman-owned breweries in the southeast Denver area and get to the know the ladies behind the beer. The four-hour tour will be led by Laura Bruns, co-owner of Factotum Brewhouse and includes discounts at each stop.

Yappy Hour Howl-O-Ween
When: October 28 from 2 to 5 p.m.
Where: Bigsby’s Folly-A Craft Winery
What: Denverites can dress up their dogs and stop by the urban winery for a pet parade and trick or treating to help support a local animal shelter.
