More food hall news
With one more Denver food hall about to open, now it’s on to the next. Edgewater Public Market is coming sometime in August, 303 reports, with a lineup of at least 12 food and drink options from arepas to craft coffee. Nearly all of the vendors have just been announced: Monna Pizza, Barbed Wire Reef, Carnivore tacos, and Arepas House; plus food trucks Moontime Crepes, Vegan Van, Happy Cones, Slideshow Sliders, Mac Shack, Gyro King, and Lucky Bird. There also will be a rooftop bar operated by the folks behind Denver Central Market’s Curio, a coffee shop by Amethyst, and potentially a brewery, winery, and full restaurant added to the mix. [303]
Larkburger closures
Colorado-based burger chain Larkburger on Tuesday closed four Denver stores and two in Kansas City, and announced that its eight remaining Colorado locations are being rebranded as Lark Spot. The closed businesses (on East Alameda, California, South Colorado, and West 121st) “were really bleeding money,” CEO Todd Coerver told Westword. Now he hopes Lark Spot will become known as more than a burger restaurant. But the concept still carries Larkburger’s menu with added salads, side dishes, and sandwiches. It will have full bars in place of old ordering counters. And customers will order food from self-service kiosks. [Westword]
No more mac and cheese bar
It’s official: The grocery store macaroni bar that went viral last year has now gone under. Whole Foods’ first-ever mac and cheese bar by Denver’s Union Station has dwindled from eight original offerings to just two or three at last count, The Know reported on Tuesday. The drop-off warranted a full eulogy on that site, but Whole Foods says its customers ultimately just wanted barbecue options (pulled pork, baked beans) for lunch more than they wanted multiple kinds of macaroni and cheese.
