Departure Restaurant + Lounge, the Asian restaurant from Top Chef veteran Gregory Gourdet, closed. Halcyon Hotel’s recent sale didn’t include Departure, although parent company Sage Restaurant Group says it’s scouting new locations in the Denver area.
Departure, designed by Skylab Architecture, opened in 2016 as an expansion of the original based in Portland, Oregon. The restaurant featured a large contemporary space with air travel influences, including an imposing airport-terminal-like bar and aerial maps that served as art. A shoji room was covered in an installation featuring the X-ray contents of suitcases. The space featured two patios, a lounge, two dining areas, booths around the bar, a sushi counter, and a binchotan counter.
Sage Restaurant Group reports that gift cards to the Asian restaurant can be used at any of the group’s locations, including The Corner Office, Kachina Cantina, Emporium Kitchen, and Urban Farmer.
