On street level, a new restaurant serving international street food. Underneath, a rum bar in a speakeasy setting. All takes place at 1433 17th St., the new home for Rose & Thorn restaurant and its underground speakeasy sister Double Barrel Club, taking over the former Southern Hospitality space in LoDo.
Rose & Thorn’s menu features smoked wings, duck taquitos, a Cubano slider, poutine, and Argentinian proveleta. A weekend brunch covers dishes such as an arepa Benedict, Caribbean chicken curry, huevos rancheros, and Cuban French toast.
At Rose & Thorn, customers will find “upscale international street food” from South America, Central America and the Caribbean, according to owner Shawn Ellis.
Downstairs at Double Barrel Club, customers can rent a rum locker in a space decked out like the 1950s Cuba. Infused ice cubes, courtesy of an onsite “ice laboratory,” range from rose petal and black garlic maple, according to The Know. Smoked pineapple rumtinis, a rosewater cosmopolitan, and blackberry mule are among the cocktails.
Rose & Thorn, 1433 17th St., Suite 150, 267-980-6685. Open 11 a.m. 3 p.m. for lunch and 3 p.m. to close for dinner at Rose & Thorn, and from 5 p.m. to close at Double Barrel Club.
