Denver Pizza Co. plans to open a second 700-square-foot location in the Mayfair neighborhood later this spring.

The cheesy, never greasy pizza with a buttered crust is the brainchild of a Chicago native who grew up with great pizza. The pizzeria makes its dough fresh in-house every day, and specializes in a beer-battered crust.

The pizzeria plans to mirror the original Golden Triangle location with the same hours and menu items available for take-out and delivery and via online ordering.

Dishes include the meat lover’s heaven; the East Colfax with a green chili-based sauce; the Boulder Pie for vegetarians; The Magnificent 7 topped with seven ingredients; the Native, another name of the Margherita; the 5280, a nod to Denver with local spices; the Cease & Desist, a sweet and salty combination; the Avalanche with Alfredo sauce and artichoke hearts; the Hot Spring, a spicy treat; the Red Rocks with hot sauce; and the Cream Cheesman with cream cheese. Aside from pizzas, the menu also includes dry-rubbed or saucy oven-baked chicken wings, garden-crisp salads, breadsticks, and locally made ice cream by Glacier.

The Coors Banquet beer-battered, thin crust pizzas is the most popular, but the pizzeria also offers a “Colorado-style” deep dish pizza with a thicker, fluffy crust. Gluten-free pizzas are also also available.

Bonus, the pizzeria claims to be Colorado’s first 100 percent wind-powered pizza company.

The restaurant plans to open on the 900 block of Jersey Street at Ninth Avenue.
