Look inside Dairy Block’s new underground bar Run for the Roses

LoDo’s food hall Dairy Block now has an underground lair, Run For the Roses, named for the Kentucky Derby. The cocktail lounge features old-time cocktails with contemporary flare in a historically chic bar by Steven Waters.

The lounge serves classic libations in a sociable setting with roses climbing the walls via a fresco, cozy jewel-toned chairs, and vintage mirrors. It sits below the former Celtic Tavern, a former off-track betting site that ran for more than 16 years that was once home to the Windsor Dairy.

The lounge features the Garland Room, a space for private events for eight to 15 people that features a record player and a curated selection of records.

Run for the Roses, Dairy Block, 1800 Wazee St., 720-573-9155. Open from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. Thursday through Sunday.
