Many of Denver's hottest breweries are crafting to the season, and that means a plethora of high octane brews intended to warm, cheer, and share. Barley wines, winter warmers, barrel-aged delights,  and the ever-ambiguous "strong ales" can be found -among other seasonal releases - on tap and in bottles at Denver's hottest breweries.

Avery is known for big beers, and in that vein will be releasing the Vanilla Bean Stout - a 10.8% dark ale aged in fresh bourbon barrels with the addition of Tongan, Ugandan, and Mexican whole vanilla beans. The beer will be available for tap room enjoyment as well as bottles to go. Christmas shopping, anybody?

Casey Brewing in Glenwood Springs is Troy Casey's miraculous contribution to the world of sour and barrel-aged beers, and the one day it is open for the entire month is Saturday, December 5. Among the December release offerings is the highly anticipated Apricot Cut. Bottle-hunters be warned: in order to bring bottles home from the release party, a ticket must be purchased online in advance.

This Belgian strong golden ale will knock your socks off - it's a high octane ale brewed with 100% Castle Pilsner malt from Belgium and fermented with Abbey ale yeast. Suffice to say, the brewery will also be releasing its Russian imperial stout sometime this month.
