Brewery representatives and beer enthusiasts from all over the world will take Denver by storm later this month for the biggest week of the year in the beer world. Great American Beer Festival may be sold out, but locals still have plentiful opportunities to celebrate the cause and drink craft beer at the following tap takeovers.

Freshcraft is an excellent place to celebrate GABF with some of the most rare tap takeovers in town including Cigar City, Casey Brewing & Blending, Firestone Walker, and Green Flash.
The first pour-it-yourself beer bar in Denver, First Draft, is doing tap takeovers throughout the weekend of GABF. Crooked Stave Artisans will take over on Thursday, September 24, and on Friday, September 25, pour yourself one of many rare and award-winning brews from California-based The Bruery. Ballast Point will rule the taps on Saturday, September 26.
Local favorite craft-meets-dive-bar, Star Bar, is hosting a GABF kickoff event with Ratio Beerworks and Ska Brewing on Tuesday, September 22 starting at 8 p.m. The event will feature many-a-beer from each of the brewery sponsors as well as a karaoke cup. Star Bar will be running some killer tap takeovers throughout the weekend from acclaimed breweries like Bells.
Tap XIV will host Left Hand Brewing Company in a rooftop tap takeover on Thursday, September 24 beginning at 9 p.m. Tap XIV is directly across the street from Falling Rock Tap House and features 70 Colorado beers on tap at all times.
World of Beer LoDo invites you to celebrate GABF with tap takeovers every night of the festival. Beginning on Thursday, September 24 with Evil Twin Brewing, Friday, September 25 with a lineup of all California-based breweries, and Saturday, September 26 with Left Hand and Odell. Frank Bonanno's Osteria Marco will have its taps taken over by Copper Kettle Brewing all week long with a very impressive lineup from the Denver-based brewery.
Beginning Monday, September 21 and running all week long, Odell Brewing Co. will be taking over the taps at Larimer Square eatery, Russell's Smokehouse. Odell will bust out some old favorites as well as more rare breeds of their award-winning beer.
This Union Station haunt will feature a tap takeover by New Belgium through September 18 showcasing some of the Fort Collins brewery's classics as well as more rare releases from the Lips of Faith series. September 19 - 26, Odell Brewing will be taking over the taps at Thirsty Lion.
Lohi's fantastic new food hall will be hosting various tap takeovers and events all throughout GABF weekend including an Odell tap takeover on Wednesday, September 23, Dogfish Head takeover Thursday, September 24, and Ratio Beerworks takeover on Friday, September 25.
Crooked Stave Artisans' distributing arm will be hosting a tap takeover at Park Burger RiNo on Tuesday, September 22 starting at noon. You can expect beers from Cascade, Bells, Almanac, Against the Grain, Prairie, Breakside, Societe, Green Bench, Crux, Ecliptic, Boneyard, Evil Twin, Jack's Abby, Oakshire, Fremont, Creature Comforts, Perennial, Two Roads, and more.
Hops & Pie is known for some of the most rare tap takeovers in town, and this GABF the Berkeley spot is showcasing some special stuff starting Wednesday, September 23 with rare beers from Crooked Stave Artisans distribution arm. Thursday, September 24 will bring a taste of Sun King Brewing to Denver. On Friday, September 25 starting at 11:30 a.m., one of the most sought after breweries in the country, Casey Brewing & Blending, will feature some of their finest brews on tap at Berkeley favorite, Hops & Pie.

There will be multiple tap takeovers by some of the best breweries in the country happening all week long at Falling Rock that are too plentiful to list here. Want a teaser? To The Wind Bistro on Colfax will be hosting some highly acclaimed local breweries in tap takeovers and pairings throughout the week. Guest taps will feature Ska Brewing, Strange Craft, Renegade, Black Shirt and TRVE.
Not full blown takeovers, the tappings at this LoDo spot are not to be missed. Rare brews will be offered as follows: On 9/23, Ninkasi (from 2 to 4 p.m.), Sam Adams (5 to 9 p.m.); on 9:24, Bristol (7 p.m.), Almanac (9 to 11 p.m.); on 9/25, Oskar Blues (3 to 6 p.m.); on 9/26, Odell (12 to 3 p.m.) and Ballast Point (6 to 9 p.m.).
The Uptown spot is hoisting its annual Left Hand Brewery Tap Takeover and Brewers Ping Pong Tournament on Wednesday September 23. The takeover lasts all day and the tournament starts at 9 p.m. and goes until a winner is crowned. The tournament is held for brewers only but spectators will have no shortage of beer to drink while cheering for their favorite brewery!
Head to Backcountry on Sunday, September 20 for Boulder’s largest annual sour beer tap takeover featuring Crooked Stave, Almanac, Cantillon, Gueuzerie Tilquin, and Prairie. Tappings run all day long. On Monday, September 21, there is an IPA takeover with some of the best IPA's in the country right now including some from Melvin Brewing, Cannonball Creek, and Comrade. The fun and rare beer takeovers will continue throughout the week.
