Eight Stock Show Worthy Cocktails to Try Now

These bad boys will surely put some hair on your chest.

With the National Western Stock Show steamrolling through town in the coming weeks, we all need to be on our manliest, most macho behavior, right down to the cocktail order.

What makes a cocktail manly you ask? The answer is: said cocktail needs to be strong as hell, preferably made with whiskey (although there are some exceptions), straightforward and without frills. This cocktail needs to be worthy of Bill Brasky, the Dos Equis man, all of the Denver Broncos, Batman and Clint Eastwood, at the very least. Chest hair should be at an all-time maximum after drinking the following cocktails at Denver bars.

Ste. Ellie

Ste. Ellie might trump the competition on manliest cocktails, as the LoHi bar has a section on its cocktail list categorized: "For Bill Brasky." Ranging from masculine marriages of booze like bourbon and bar beer for $9, to 30-year cognac and Saison Dupont for $41. Just remember, Bill Brasky is a ten-foot tall beast-man, who showers in vodka and feeds his baby shrimp scampi.

Black Eye's excellent cocktail menu is broken down into categories based on strength. Anything from the Heavyweight category merits a place on our manly roundup, notably The Mysterious Stranger - a one-two punch with Bank Note scotch, Creme de Violette, Ricard Pastis, Noilly Prat French vermouth, shaken and served up.

Sean Kenyon's casual LoHi cocktail bar is a perfectly manly place to knock back some booze whilst watching sports. The Sailin' On cocktail is macho in a Jimmy Buffet, devil-may-care type of a way, in that it renders images of piloting a yacht, stogie lit - a cocktail with aged rum, bitters, lemon and pineapple syrup.

This RiNo spot is a stone's throw away from the Convention Center where the Stock Show is held, and scores very high on the manly scale. Order the half roasted pig's head and wash it down with the Hire's 2nd Act - a cocktail made with Dickel rye and house-made root beer.

Bacon Social House
