This week's big event, the Great American Beer Festival, presents an excellent opportunity for breweries to team up with local restaurants in food and beer pairings. While the festival itself may be sold out, you can still participate in one of the many beer dinners taking place throughout town in the coming weeks.
We've compiled a list of the beer-centric food events that we will update with more events as the week goes by.
Check out Euclid Hall's "Road to GABF" dinner series, featuring partnerships with local breweries like Crooked Stave on Thursday, September 17. Kick off the weekend of GABF with the 5th annual Avery Midnight Breakfast at 10:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 24.
On Tuesday, September 22, Rebel Restaurant will host a beer dinner with TRVE and Ratio. The "Split Ep" beer dinner will be an exercise in consumption with six courses and two beer pairings (one from each brewery) for every course. The punk, metal, and rebel spirits will all come together for this one-of-a-kind event.
If you prefer your beer and food pairings earlier in the day, look into the brewery brunch with EDGE Restaurant and Fort Collins Brewery at the Four Seasons Hotel in LoDo. This event runs from 10 a.m. 2- p.m. every day that GABF is in session as well as the Sunday after the festival, and will feature bottomless brews from Fort Collins Brewery. Also at EDGE, Crazy Mountain Brewing will be paired with small plates from 3 - 5 p.m. before each GABF session.
Lou's Food Bar and Crooked Stave Artisan Beer Project are pairing up to bring you one hell of a post-GABF sour beer brunch on Sunday, September 27 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. The beer will be provided by Jolly Pumpkin, Evil Twin, and Breakside Brewery and will pair up with the three-course brunch.
Bittersweet's monthly seasonal tasting menu has been modified to accommodate four stellar beers this month in honor of GABF. For $50 per person, patrons can enjoy a four-course meal made with the freshest seasonal ingredients and paired with highly sought-after beers. On Wednesday, September 23, 1515 Restaurant will team up with Uinta Brewery and Spiegelau Glass Company to put on the annual four-course beer dinner. The dinner is $55 per person and will showcase some of the Salt Lake City brewery's finest beers paired with the exceptionally creative food that 1515 has become known for.
Kick off GABF right next Thursday, September 24 with brunch by Old Major and San Francisco's Magnolia Brewing. From 10 a.m. - 12 p.m., prepare for session one of GABF with three courses from Justin Brunson and his team paired with three Magnolia beers. The brunch is $55 per person and reservations can be made by calling (720)420-0622.
In the spirit of GABF, Work & Class will be teaming up with Black Project Spontaneous and Wild Ales for a five-course beer dinner on Monday, September 21 at 6:30 p.m.
Five of the most influential brewers of sour beer, known fondly as "The Brett Pack," will host an exclusive beer dinner featuring beers from their respective breweries- Avery, Allagash, Russian River, Dogfish Head, and Lost Abbey. The dinner will consist of five courses, paired with beer of course, and will take place on Wednesday, September 23. Tickets are hard to come by, but for any chance at all call (303)440-4324.
Join Block & Larder and neighbor Call to Arms Brewery for a food and beer pairing event on Monday, September 23 at 7 p.m. The four-course meal by Block & Larder will be paired with beer and beer cocktails from Call to Arms.
Copper Kettle, Tender Belly Bacon, and popular food truck Maine Street BBQ will be hosting an epic beer drinking and pig roasting event in honor of GABF at 5 p.m. on Friday, September 25.
If you find yourself up early on Saturday, September 26, swing by Cheeky Monk on Colfax to experience the early morning breakfast with The Bruery from 8 - 11 a.m. Reservations can be made by calling (303)861-0347.
On Thursday, September 24 at noon, head to School House Kitchen & Libations in Arvada for a brunch with Jester King and Argus Cidery. Representatives will be there from both Jester King and Argus to explain the pairings and answer questions during the four-course brunch.
Lower48 Kitchen will team up with Paradox Brewing on Wednesday, September 23 from 5 - 9 p.m. for a four-course beer dinner. Food and beer may be ordered a la carte as well.
On Friday, September 25, Colt & Gray is pairing rare beers with a multi-course tasting menu in an intimate environment. Expect White-Whale beers from Cantillon, Ale Apothecary, Evil Twin, Crooked Stave, Jester King, and Anchorage Brewing. Seats are very limited.
The Five Points Spot is hosting a four course dinner paired with four Spangalang Brewery Beers. The cost of the dinner that takes place on Tuesday, September 22 starting at 6 p.m. is $49.
On Tuesday, September 22, Mockery has partnered with Revelry Events to host a four course beer-paired dinner that starts at 6 p.m. Tickets cost $50 per person.
On Wednesday, September 23, the Squeaky Bean is hosting a four-course dinner paired with Stone Brewing beers. The event starts at 6 p.m. and costs $70 per person.
Join the Kitchen Upstairs on Thursday, September 24 for a dinner prepared by chef Paul McGuire. The evening will begin with a welcome beer from Crooked Stave and move into a 5 course meal each course paired with 2 beers, for a total of 11 beers. Rare and one-off beers from Fremont, Oakshire, Perennial, Gigantic, and of course Crooked Stave are on the agenda.
