Sherry is a versatile and oft-forgotten spirit, reminiscent of 19th century galas and smoky parlor rooms, stuck in the liquor canon amongst dusty bottles of brandy on the back of Grandpa's shelf. But this fortified wine is a fine nectar distilled from white Andalusian grapes, crafted into many different styles/favor profiles based on parameters of age, color, oxidization and sweetness. Sherry flavors range from distinctly sweet nuttiness of dessert wines to dry, lighter-than-air quality of finos, and their comparatively low alcohol contents make them a winning contender for complex, "easy" drinking cocktails that are now so en vogue in Denver.
